What's new with FCO?

FCO's webpage has moved! Please click here.

FCO will not conduct its annual conference this year (2017) in light of its recent association with the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA). Information about the 2018 conference will be posted on the new website as it becomes available.

Greetings from FCO, International!

We are pleased to make three very important and exciting announcements to our membership.

A new chapter begins for FCO . . .

On March 2nd and 3rd, the FCO Board of Directors visited the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA) headquarters in Bristol, Tennessee, where we met with Senior Vice President Gene Rudd, M.D., Executive Vice President Mike Chupp, M.D., and several CMDAdepartment heads. In what will be remembered as an historic meeting in the life of FCO, the board decided unanimously to join and become a section of this thriving organization. CMDA has a long, rich history of using healthcare as a platform for sharing the gospel and for providing meaningful fellowship and support to its members.

This action is the culmination of the board’s prayerful discernment and thorough discussions stemming from an invitation nearly two years ago to join CMDA. We believe this affiliation will help both organizations better fulfill our shared missions and provide the infrastructure needed for FCO to grow and expand its reach among Christian optometrists and allied personnel. It will also enable us to improve communication with our members and allow them access to a number of value-added resources and support services. The CMDA board will vote on the proposal in May of 2017.

Our annual conference postponed . . .

The FCO board has decided to forgo this year’s annual conference in order to focus time and energy on the transition process and to plan for the launch of a new conference experience in 2018.

The torch of leadership is passed . . .

Kyle Cheatham, O.D., was unanimously elected to assume the office of FCO President on March 3rd, 2017. Clifford Brooks, O.D., a founding member of the organization, will remain active as the Immediate Past President to aid in the succession and to impart decades of wisdom and knowledge to new FCO leaders. Optometrists in the U.S. and around the world have been impacted through his leadership over the past thirty-one years.

Please keep us in your prayers as we lead FCO through this transition into the Christian Medical and Dental Associations. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in the life and ministry of FCO. We are excited about the future and will eagerly keep you up to date with all that’s ahead. We believe that our best days are yet to come.

For Christ and His Kingdom,
FCO Board of Directors
